About the Workshop
In this class we will explore creating figurative work using ink, watercolor, gouache, colored pencil and collage. We will experiment with materials, spend some time working abstractly, and find ways to sink into the process of art making. From this space we can create more free flowing and organic illustrations. We will discuss narrative and symbols in our work as well as basic design and flow.

This class is appropriate for both illustrators and fine artists. Some experience drawing is helpful, but not mandatory. We will be doing some collaboration and reflection exercises that benefit from having new or outside perspectives to the art world.
Expect to get messy, play with your materials, talk about your work, and find fun in creating art again.

About Lettie Jane Rennekamp
Lettie Jane Rennekamp (she/they) is an artist, teacher, and mother living in Portland, OR. Her work often centers on the body and what it means to inhabit a body in this world. She uses illustrations depicting people, plants, and patterns to try to capture more abstract ideas like moving through grief or self-acceptance. They love to experiment with materials and can be found using watercolor, colored pencils, acrylic paint, and charcoal in one painting. She finds joy in both the reverence for art materials and disregarding any preciousness about their use
