Mixed Media Open Studio with Linda Berkley
Mixed Media Open Studio
Develop Your Vision
Instructor: Linda Berkley
Week1: August 1-7, 2021
Join an investigation of mixed media and collage processes to reveal new approaches to seeing and creating an image and developing a theme connected to your personal vision. Combining more than one medium or artistic approach has a way of opening up the unexpected: juxtapositions reveal new connections, expressive color palettes and mark-making expand, and visual poetry emerges. Technically as complicated or reductive as you wish, a mixed media approach unfetters the imagination, breaking through blocks and inhibitions. Open to using and combining drawing, painting (water-based paints such as acrylic or watercolor are better suited to studio space), collage and light assemblage, simple printmaking, bookmaking, sketchbook or journaling, stitching/sewing, working large or small.
This intensive workshop uses the mixed media approach as its own art form and as an innovative working or “sketching” process to gain new perspectives in other media (drawing, painting, etc.). Each morning, structured exercises are followed by one-on-one creative and technical consultation and time for individual project development in the afternoon. Open to all levels of experience.
