This workshop will focus on basic encaustic techniques including glazing, fusing, collage, incising, inlay, and image transfer. Demonstrations will include support and grounds preparation, studio set-up, and painting techniques. Instruction will include a brief overview of the history of the encaustic painting and an examination of wax in contemporary art. Information about materials, resources, and fundamental safety issues will be provided.
